The will of William Fiske the elder of Cratfield, Gentleman, Dec 1 1636

To wife Elizabeth, yearly rent and sum of £20 for life, to be paid to her or her assigns, each year, by testator's son William Fiske at the usual feasts of Lady Day and Michaelmas by equal payments, this in lieu of dower claims on lands and for her jointure; first payment to be made on the first feast which falls due after testator's death. To son William, all lands, tenements and hereditaments, both free and copyhold, with appurtenances in Cratfield. To wife Elizabeth, £5 presently on testator's death; also a feather bed, bolster, two pillows, pair blankets, coverlet, mat and bedline belonging to the bedstead in the hall chamber, part of the messuage or tenement where testator now dwelleth, ten pair sheets, these to be delivered to her presently on testator's death; also she to have the use and occupation of the trundle bedstead standing in the said hall chamber, with the feather bed, bolster, pair blankets, coverlet, mat and bedline thereto belonging, and two pillows, the wicker chair there, and a carpet there, one great joined chair, one little joined chair standing in the parlour belonging to the said messuage; also one desk, four cushions, pair cobirons, fire pan, pair of tongs standing in the hall belonging to the said messuage, also one skillet with a bail, one other skillet one middle sized kettle standing and being in the buttery belonging to the said messuage; one square table, two chests, five curtains, six fine pillow beres, six course pillow beres, two fine board cloths, two coarse boardcloths, one dozen fine table napkins, one dozen coarse table napkins, two livery board cloths, two fine towels, a warming pan being in the said buttery chamber, two pewter chargers, two great pewter dishes, four lesser pewter dishes, two fruit dishes, one double salt seller, one other salt seller, and a dozen saucers standing and being in the apple chamber belonging to the said messuage, two silver spoons, these items to her for term of her life, and on her death, these to go to testator's son William. To Frances Meene, testator's wife's daughter, the use and occupation of the feather bed, boulster, two pillows, a pair of blankets and a coverlet in the brew house chamber, belonging to the said messuage, for term of her life, and then to go to testator's son William. To godson and nephew William Sandcroft, gold ring with a seal, presently on testator's death. Executor to receive all debts due to testator, and pay debts and see to burial. Rest of goods, chattels, moveable and immovable, plate, household stuff, bedding, linen, brass, pewter, to go to son William, he to pay debts and legacies and to perform this will; he to be executor. Nephew Francis Sandtoft to be supervisor, and to receive 20s. to buy him a ring. Witnesses: Thomas Elliot, Susan Borret.
