The Will of THOMAS FYSKE the Elder of Laxfeld,
being in good and hole mynd, 27 October 1525.

My soul to God, and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Laxfield. To the high altar there 6s. 8d. To the repair of the church 10s. To the "Black Fryers" 5s., to sing half a trental for me. To the Grey Friars 5s., for half a trental. To the Abbess of Brosyard [Bruisyard] 6d. To each friar and nun there 2d. To my son William the tenement [called] Stowes in Laxfield and all staff [sic] and "cattell" there except a cow; and he is to find a priest to sing for me at Laxfield. To my wife, at her choice, another cow. To Annes, my daughter, £6. 13s. 4d., and, if she be married, 40s., to be paid by my son William. My wife is to have from my son William 33s. 4d. a year, for her life, a chamber and dwelling in my parlour at the churchyard's side at Laxfield, the hall, buttery, and soler, and gardens and fruit, etc. To Thomas, my son, the rest of the tenement, and, on my wife's death, he is to have the whole tenement. My wife is to give to Agnes, my daughter, a part of my stuff in the house at the church that I occupy. To Harry, my son, land in Fressyngfeld [Fressingfield, Suffolk], and he is to deliver to Margaret Coslar, at her chamber, while she liveth, two loads of wood. My executors are to have all the cattle, except two heifers which I give to Agnes, my daughter, besides the two of her own that are there. Lands called Fales, Glemys, Herstofeld, and Conysfeld are to be used to pay my debts and perform my will; and then my son William is to have the same, if he pay 4 marks for the same, and so on until 24 marks is paid in all; and of these 24 marks my son Thomas is to have 16 marks and Harry, my son, 8 marks. To my wife and my son William all corn, etc. To my wife the cow that goeth with my brother Symon. Residue to my executors, my sons Harry and Thomas, and the latter is to have 2d. and Harry 1d.
