Genealogical Tables

These tables are based on those in Fiske Family Papers but have been added to and corrections made as necessary. They focus on the Fiske family which came from Laxfield, Suffolk and the surrounding villages from the 12th century onwards. We as researchers are very fortunate in the wealth of documentary evidence that survives to support this particular line; other Fisk(e) strands are less fortunate in this respect which has led to frustration in trying to establish where they attach to this line, if indeed they do.

Interestingly it is much easier for many of our American Fiske cousins, descended as they are from the the East Anglian settlers of 17th century New England, to trace their lineage back to 12th century Suffolk than it is for the majority of British Fisk(e)s. For many of the latter it is a struggle to get further back that the late 18th century and there is much more work to be done to establish their origins more clearly.

Hello, my brother did some research circa 2003, we eventually reached a dead end with Hugh Fisk 1370-?, we believe he was born in Laxfield as we haven’t confirmed this but have many ancestors buried in Barsham churchyard. Is there any indication we were heading in the right direction with our research?
