The Fisk(e) Index (latest update 3rd January 2011)

Having amassed over 5000 records (currently over 13,000) of British-born Fisk(e)s, from a variety of sources, I decided that the time had come to make them available to others. I would welcome input from anyone who can add records to fill in the many gaps, please quote your sources wherever possible.

In the vast majority of cases I have not been able to check the original documents and have made use of transcriptions by others of various parish and other records; the IGI and VRI from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the national censuses of 1841-1901, and various other reference works. I have also incorporated the many family records sent in to me by fellow researchers both in this country and abroad.

This is an index to other sources rather than a definitive work, I am aware that it will very probably contain errors, duplications and omissions. Please inform me of any you find. I have avoided including individuals born after about 1911, with the exception of those I know to be no longer alive. Some of the pages are rather large and may take a little while to load.

If you have information on members of the Fisk(e) family that are not at present in the index, please email me (link at the bottom of this page)and I will add them to the Fisk(e) Index. Remember, only those born in Britain prior to 1911 unless there is evidence that they are now deceased.

Key to sources and abbreviations in the Fisk(e) Index

I created this website back in 1998 and everything on it has been added by myself and a handful of regular contributors as a labour of love, all hosting costs and subscriptions have come out of my pocket. Due to the current dire financial situation in this country my day job has recently come under threat and I am looking for ways to save money in case the worst happens. In order to help safeguard the future of this website and offer an opportunity for people to contribute to it I have decided to add a Paypal link (below). I will also consider any offers of sponsorship but a profound personal dislike of advertising means I won’t be following the usual route of adding Google Ads or affiliate links to these pages.

Please believe me when I say I have no intention of making this into a subscription site or trying to make a profit, all I am looking for is help with paying the bills associated with it. I will use any donations over and above that to fund subscriptions to other websites which offer research materials that I am currently unable to take advantage of.
