103 - WILLIAM - Born about 1582, married Anne Hart (buried at Norton, Suffolk on Aug 21, 1625). He lived with his brother-in-law Henry Bright at New House, Pakenham, Suffolk, also purchased Clopton Hall in Rattlesden, Suffolk. It would appear from his will, dated March 20, 1648, that he was a man of extensive estates situated in various towns and villages in Suffolk and Norfolk. He was buried at Norton on Dec 1, 1648. She is believed to have outlived her husband by several years and was probably buried near him at Pakenham. 139 - JOHN - Baptised at Norton, May 7, 1609, married Alice, daughter of William Hart, of Beeston, Norfolk. He was a Lieutenant-Colonel of the Suffolk Auxiliaries and served under Colonal Fairfax at the Siege of Colchester. Resided at Clopton Hall, Rattlesden. He died on June 4, 1684 aged 75, and was buried at Rattlesden. There is a Memorial Slab to him in the chancel floor of Rattlesden church, and another for his wife who died before him in 1678. 140 - WILLIAM - Baptised at Norton Jan 13, 1613, married Rachel ? but had no issue. He lived at Hardings in Norton, and was described as a gentleman. He died on June 24, 1678. In the north aisle of the nave of Norton Church is a flat memorial stone. 141 - MARY - Baptised at Norton, Aug 15, 1616, married William Bloomfield, Gent., of Little Stonham, Suffolk in 1649 at Coddenham. She was his second wife, they had six children: Mary, Martha, Katherine, Anne, Elizabeth and William. 142 - MARGARET - Baptised at Norton, May 2, 1619, married Thomas Medowe, Esq. probably at Norton in about 1653. He later became Sir Thomas Medowe of Great Yarmouth, High Sheriff of Norfolk in 1663. 143 - THOMAS - Baptised at Norton on May 2, 1619 (apparently a twin of Margaret, 142 above). He resided in Rattlesden and died there unmarried on Aug 26, 1687 aged 68. His Will was dated 24 April, 1686, proved in October the following year. There is a memorial slab in Rattlesden Church. 144 - SAMUEL - Baptised at Norton on Feb 20, 1621, married ???, died 1640. was, in 1901) a 198 - MARTHA - Baptised at Rattlesden on Feb 28, 1639, married there on April 20, 1686 to Thomas Bright, Gent., of Bury St Edmunds. She died on Oct 7, 1703. There is a tablet erected to her memory in Rattlesden Church. (not found in 1998) 199 - JOHN - Baptised at Rattlesden, Sept 10, 1641, buried there Feb 20, 1689. *199a - MARY - Baptised at Rattlesden April 29, 1649, buried there June 13, 1651. 200 - REV. JAMES - Born 1651, married at Hawkeden, Suffolk on Aug 24, 1682 to Mary, daughter of the Rev. Ambrose Salusbury, rector of Whepstead. He was first instituted there himself in 1678, and was rector for 33 years. He died in 1711 aged 60, she died in 1726, there was no issue. They were both buried at Whepstead, there is (or was, in 1901) a black marble slab to the memory of Rev. James Ffiske there, and another to his wife. 201 - RACHEL - Baptised May 4, 1644, buried Feb 12, 1731. 202 - THOMAS - Baptised Oct 8, 1645, died intestate in 1688. Memorial slab in the chancel floor at Rattlesden Church. 203 - ELIZABETH - Baptised March 1, 1642, died without marrying Sept 12, 1671. Memorial slab at Rattlesden Church. (not found in 1998) 204 - SAMUEL - Baptised Nov 14, 1647, died Sept 13, 1691. No issue. Memorial slab at Rattlesden Church. 205 - LEAH - Baptised May 15, 1653, died aged 20 on Feb 3, 1674. Memorial slab at Rattlesden Church. (not found in 1998) 206 - JOSEPH - Baptised May 13, 1655, married Lydia ? who was buried on May 29, 1694. He was buried Aug 2, 1691. No issue. Offspring of 197 233 - SUSAN - Married twice, to John Churchman Esq. of Illington, Norfolk, and to Maurice Shelton Esq., of Barningham, Suffolk. 234 - ROBERT - Resided at Stiffkey, Norfolk and Clopton Hall, Rattlesden. Married ??? Offspring of 234 303 - ROBERT - Baptised 1690, succeeded to Clopton Hall upon the death of his father. Married Margaret ? born in 1681, she died in April 1730. He died in May 1734. There is a memorial slab to both in Rattlesden Church. Offspring of 303 331 - MARY - Died as an infant, buried June 30, 1722. 332 - MARGARET - Born 1716, married Fulcher Blake, Gent. She died on Oct 21, 1773 aged 57. There is (or was, in 1901) a black memorial stone to her memory in New Buckenham Church, Norfolk, at the west end, south side. 333 - JOHN - Born 1719, died April 10, 1742 aged 23. There is a memorial slab in the chancel floor at Rattlesden Church. 334 - SAMUEL - Baptised Oct 28, 1726 at Rattlesden, succeeded his father at Clopton Hall. Married Mary ? who died on Nov 2, 1799 aged 82. He died in Sept 1792. Memorial inscription to both and daughter Mary in the chancel floor at Rattlesden Church. Offspring of 334 359 - SAMUEL - Baptised Oct 18, 1747, resided at Clopton Hall. Married twice, firstly to Martha Jackson who died on March 27, 1790 aged 39; secondly to Mary ? [possibly Jackson, in May 1800], by which time he had one daughter only. Mary died in Dec 1820 aged 65. He died suddenly on Jan 6, 1818 aged 71. There is a memorial tablet on the north wall of the chancel at Rattlesden Church to Samuel, his first wife, and their first daughter Mary Ann. 360 - MARY - Baptised at Rattlesden April 24, 1752. Died June 24, 1768 aged 16. Offspring of 359 371 - MARY ANN - Baptised at Rattlesden, April 5, 1772, buried there Jan 15, 1789 aged 17. 372 - SARAH - Born Rattlesden Oct 11, 1774, married to Lankester Freeman Esq., of Newton, Suffolk on June 15, 1795. They had four sons and seven daughters. Their eldest son, Henry Lankester Freeman, born 1796, was a surgeon and registrar, educated at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London. 373 - SAMUEL - Baptised at Rattlesden Dec 4, 1774. He followed a profession in law, died May 8, 1851 in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire. 374 - REBECCA - Baptised at Rattlesden on March 9, 1777, married John Edwards, Gent., of Brockford, Suffolk there on Nov 27, 1797. 375 - ELIZABETH - Baptised at Rattlesden Oct 4, 1778, buried there on June 12, 1781. There is a child's memorial stone in the church. (not found in 1998) 376 - GEORGE - Baptised at Rattlesden Dec 17, 1780, served as a Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery, died at Woolpit, Suffolk in Sept 1824; resided at Kessingland, Suffolk. 377 - ROBERT - Baptised July 15, 1783. He married twice, firstly to Maria Jenks of Bury St. Edmunds at St. James' Church there in 1806, she died without issue. Secondly to Mary Anne White of Kessingland in 1820 who died in 1857 aged 64. He was a solicitor by profession and resided at Beccles, Suffolk. He died in Oct 1864 aged 82. 378 - THOMAS - Baptised at Rattlesden on Jan 29, 1786, married Ann Stern there on 5 Jan, 1819, she died in the same year aged 27. His second wife was Christian Broom of Rattlesden, a widow. He resided at Drinkstone, Suffolk and died at Woolpit on April 21, 1854 aged 72. Offspring of 377 407 - ROBERT WHITE - Born May 6, 1822, educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge. Ordained deacon Dec 21, 1851, priest in 1852. Married Mary Elwyn, daughter of the late Rev. William Elwyn. He was perpetual curate of Loose near Maidstone, Kent; also vicar of North Leigh in Oxfordshire for over 21 years, and rector of Stockton in Wiltshire for 7 years. He died in March 1890. 408 - EDWARD BROWN - Born Aug 5, 1823, was a solicitor and the first registrar of the County Court in Beccles district. He was mayor of Beccles in 1869. He died unmarried in 1895 aged 71, buried at Kessingland. 409 - MARIANNE ELIZABETH - Born Oct 31, 1826; died July 22, 1827. 410 - ELIZABETH RITSON - Born Jan 25, 1829; died unmarried Dec 18, 1887. Offspring of 407 430 - ROBERT ELWYN - Born Dec 3, 1858, educated at Marlborough College and Keble College, Oxford, matric. Oct 15, 1877, BA 1881, MA 1884. He married Florence Leonora Long, daughter of Walter Bathurst Long Esq., of Somerset House. In 1901 they were living near Red Deer, Alberta, in the North West Province. Their offspring were:
