Fisk[e] Population Maps

Data for the first two maps comes from my database and may therefore suffer from a lack of documentary evidence for some parts of the country, nevertheless it does clearly show that the main origin of the surname was in Norfolk and Suffolk and gradually expanded to neighbouring counties. In addition there was a marked migration to the Durham coalfields starting in the 18th century while during the 19th century the Industrial Revolution and better transport links resulted in the migration of many agricultural workers from East Anglia to Yorkshire and Lancashire. The decline of manufacturing during the later 20th century has shifted the balance back towards the south and east once more.
