63 - ROBERT - Married Emme Rushbrook , daughter of William Rushbrooke of Gt. Barton, Suffolk there on Oct 6, 1566. He was a yeoman, they resided at Norton, Suffolk, where he was churchwarden in 1599. He purchased the Hardings Manor in Norton in 1578. He was buried at Norton on Jan 2, 1604. His wife survived him and subsequently moved to Elmswell, Suffolk. Her will, dated Feb 17, 1625 mentions son Robert and his daughter Margaret, son Edward and his daughter Elizabeth, grandchild Mary Palmer, daughter Mary Martin, daughter Frances, wife of Thomas Bardwell. Married Elizabeth Harpham at Norton on July 18, 1603. She was buried at Norton on August 29, 1658, he was buried there on Oct 1 the same year.. 95 - ELIZABETH - Baptised at Norton May 30, 1574, mentioned in the will of her maternal grandfather as his "maide", also mentioned in her paternal grandmother's will of 1626. His Will was dated Sept 4, 1616, proved the following month at Bury St Edmunds, mentions his brothers Robert, Simon and Edward; brothers-in-law Thomas Palmer, Thomas Bardwell and Thomas Martin[e]; appoints mother Emme executrix. 102 - MARY - Baptised at Norton Sept 1, 1583, married Thomas (Richard) Martine on July 10, 1629. 103 - WILLIAM - Baptised at Norton, Oct 10, 1588, married Anne Hart (buried at Norton, Suffolk on Aug 21, 1625). He lived with his brother-in-law Henry Bright at New House, Pakenham, Suffolk, also purchased Clopton Hall in Rattlesden, Suffolk. It would appear from his will, dated March 20, 1648, that he was a man of extensive estates situated in various towns and villages in Suffolk and Norfolk. He was buried at Norton on Dec 1, 1649. He was vicar of Westleton in Suffolk 1672-74; rector of Theberton 1672-1683; rector of Cockfield 1676-1708; rector of Hadleigh (presented by King William and Queen Mary) 1691-1708. Baptised at Norton Oct 29, 1650, married Elizabeth Paman
[Parnan, Pamant] there in Aug 1683. He was a yeoman and
resided at Hardings in Norton all his life, shown as a
churchwarden in 1705, and was sole executor to his
father's will. He died in Dec 1727 aged 77 and was buried
at Norton, his wife followed him in September 1729 aged
75. 211 - CHARLES - Baptised at Norton on Nov 13, 1652, married Prudence Frost there on Sept 25, 1681. He was a yeoman, resided at Norton. She was buried there in May 1689, he followed on June 2, 1721. 212 - SAMUEL -
Baptised at Norton on July 2, 1655. He was a physician or
apothecary and aquired a large estate of land in the
counties of Essex and Suffolk. He lived in Halstead,
Essex for about thirty years and was a great benefactor
to the town. He married Damaris ? who was buried at
Halstead in Feb 1722 or 23. In 1701 he purchased the
manor of Lammarsh (now Lamarsh) in Essex, in the same
year he made a gift of a bell for the
belfry of St Andrews Church in Halstead. The market place
was paved in Sept 1705 at the charge of Samuel Fiske and
Thomas Morley (father-in-law of Rev. Thomas Fiske MA of
Shimplingthorne, see biog 235). In 1717 Samuel made a
further gift to the church of a new spire, the previous
one having been destroyed by lightning. There is a memorial to him from Thomas Morley in
the church. He died on April 21, 1718 and was buried in
the chancel of Halstead Church. 213 - MARTHA - Baptised at Norton on Jan 5, 1658, married Robert Gall, of Norton, Gent, there on Oct 21, 1686. THOMAS - Baptised at Cockfield on June 16, 1678,
educated at Queens' College, Cambridge, where he entered
as a sizar on Feb 2, 1698. Graduated BA in 1694, MA in ?
He married Anna Morley (daughter of John Morley, Esq. of
Halstead) on Oct 10, 1708. He held the curacy at Hadleigh
for his father, afterwards became the rector of
Shimpling, Suffolk, following his presentation by his
father on June 12, 1704. His will, dated May 27, 1721
bequeathed lands and property in the villages of
Cockfield, Stanningfield, Bradfield Combust, Felsham and
Rattlesden (all in Suffolk); and at Ham, Lamish Hall, and
Colchester (all in Essex). He also passed on the
perpetual Advowson of the rectory of Shimpling to his son
Thomas and his heirs, and also that of Great Bromley in
Essex. He was buried at Shimpling on Aug 23, 1722 aged 44.
235a - DOROTHY - Baptised at Cockfield on Dec 19, 1680, married Rev. Caleb Rose at Bradfield St. Clare on May 27, 1702. He was presented as rector of Felsham in 1701 and of Whepstead in 1711, following on in the latter from Rev. James Ffiske, the son of Lieut. Col Ffiske of Clopton Hall. She died on April 12, 1739, followed by her husband on Oct 27, 1742. They were both buried at Whepstead; there is (or was, in 1901) a flat tombstone in the church over their graves. JOHN - Baptised Dec 28, 1693, educated at Queens' College, Cambridge, graduated BA in 1715, MA in ? He was ordained as a Priest on Dec 25, 1719 at a special ordination in Kings Street Chapel, Westminster, by the Bishop of Lincoln. He married Elizabeth Gosnold, daughter of the Rev. Lionel Gosnold, rector of Otley, Suffolk. He was rector at Thorpe Morieux from 1719-1753, and at Felsham from July 1723. He died on Oct 4, 1764 aged 72. There is large wall monument in coloured marble in the chancel of Thorpe Morieux Church, erected to his memory and that of his son Rev. John Ffiske, who succeeded him as rector of that parish. 239 - ZACHARY - No information. 240 - CHARLES - No information. 241 - SAMUEL - No information. 242 - MARY - Married ? Scott, no other information. Offspring of 210 243 - JOHN - Baptised at Norton on Aug 14, 1684, he resided at Norton and practiced as a surgeon. He married Martha, daughter of Thomas Clarke, a surgeon of Bury St Edmunds. He died before her, on Dec 6, 1715, aged 31. After his death his widow went back to Bury St Edmunds, she died on Sept 3, 1759 aged 77 and was buried at Norton. Their tombstones, and those of two of their sons Thomas and John, are still to be seen near the South porch of Norton Church. 244 - ROBERT - Baptised at Norton on Sept 21, 1686, practiced as a surgeon in Halstead, Essex, purchased the Wickhambrook estate in Essex. He died unmarried in 1740 and was buried at Halstead. 245 - MARTHA - Baptised at Norton on Nov 29, 1688, married Edmund Manistre of Norton. Among their offspring were their son John Manistre, a surgeon who was appointed as a 'man' midwife in Halstead; his son Fiske Manistre who was a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, and his brother Rev. John Manistre, Fellow of Kings' College, Cambridge. 246 - ELIZABETH - Baptised at Norton on Nov 8, 1694, married William Ruffell [Russell?], Gent. at Norton. He died before her and was buried on Sept 13, 1729, she survived until April 1776 and was buried at Norton. Offspring of 211 247 - ROBERT - Baptised at Norton on July 26, 1684, buried there later the same month. 248 - CHARLES - Baptised at Norton on Oct 8, 1685, a yeoman, he married Mary Pamant at Norton on May 4, 1710, she was buried on April 20, 1741. 249 - SAMUEL - Baptised at Norton on Oct 12, 1687, buried there on Dec 8 the same year. 250 - PRUDENCE - Baptised at Norton on Jan 11, 1689, buried there on April 2, 1711. Offspring of 238 312 - REV. JOHN - Born in 1725, educated at Caius College, Cambridge and graduated MA in 1756, succeeded his father as rector of Thorpe Morieux in Feb 1754. He married Sarah, daughter and heiress of Dr Samuel Thomas of Lavenham, on Aug 10, 1761 and received with her "a fortune of £18,000". She died in childbirth in August the following year. He died on April 10, 1778 aged 53 and was buried at Thorpe Morieux. ROBERT - Baptised at Norton Jan 2, 1713; he was educated at the Colchester Grammar School and Caius College, Cambridge, graduated BA in 1734 and MA in 1738. He married in 1743 Ann Munnings, widow of the Rev. Daniel Munnings MA, Fellow of Caius College, Cambridge, and rector of Denver, Norfolk, and the only daughter of Rev. Henry Hall MA, vicar of Elmdon, Essex and rector of Foulmire [Fowlmere?], Cambridgeshire. He was for 42 years the vicar of Wendens Ambo, Essex and was a magistrate and J.P. He died on July 14, 1783 aged 70 and was buried at Wendens Church, as was his wife who died in 1803. 319 - CLARKE - Baptised at Norton June 1, 1715, buried there Oct 25 in the same year. Offspring of 248 320 - CHARLES - Baptised at Norton on Feb 2, 1711, died Nov 27, 1729 aged 19. There is (or was in 1901- not found in 1998) a memorial stone near the South porch of Norton Church. 321 - SAMUEL - Baptised at Norton on Dec 26, 1712, married Martha Bradley of Elmswell at St. Mary's, Bury St. Edmunds, on July 24, 1731. He was a yeoman who resided at Bardwell, Suffolk, he was buried there on July 2, 1792. The burial of "Mary [Martha?], wife of Samuel Fisk" was recorded at Bardwell on December 6, 1783. 322 - ISAAC - Baptised at Norton on Apr 18, 1713, married Elizabeth ? who was buried on Feb 20, 1764 aged 46. He was a yeoman, resided at Norton. 323 - MARY - Baptised at Norton in 1715, married George Pansee or Persey of Norton there on Oct 3, 1737. They had issue: George; Isaac; Abraham; Jacob; Elisha; Anna, and Mary Offwood of Hepworth. 324 - PRUDENCE - Baptised at Norton on Feb 9, 1718, married ? Fuller of Norton and had issue John, of Dedham. 325 - MARTHA - Baptised at Norton on June 11, 1720. 326 - ELIZABETH - Baptised in 1722, married ? Offspring of 312 340 - SARAH THOMAS - Only child and heiress of Rev. John and Sarah Fiske, her mother dying during her birth in 1762. She married John Haynes Harrison Esq. of Copford Hall, Essex on Dec 11, 1783, he was a Major in the Militia and Lord of the Manors of Copford and Felsham. She died on Dec 12, 1825, he followed on Dec 2, 1839 aged 84. Picture | Memorial Their 10 offspring included: Fiske Goodeve Fyske Harrison, J.P. and High Sheriff, born 1793, died 1872; Rev. Thomas Thomas Harrison, rector of Thorpe Morieux, married Ann, daughter of Rear-Admiral Nicholas Tomlinson. Their offspring included Thomas Haynes Harrison, one of the first body of colonists who sailed in 1850 to found the Canterbury Settlement, New Zealand; and the Right Rev. William Thomas Harrison, Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway from 1888. Catherine Harrison, married John Ruggles Esq. of Spain's Hall, Essex, and Clare, Suffolk. He was a Barrister-at-Law, J.P., and High Sheriff of Suffolk in 1829. Offspring of 318 366 - THOMAS HALL-FISKE - Born in 1744, an Attorney at Saffron Walden and Rickling, both in Essex. In 1784 he married Frances, daughter of John Phillips, Esq. of Rickling and widow of John Judd, Esq., of Birchanger, Essex. He died in 1797 and is buried at Farnham, Essex, she died in 1824. 367 - JOHN - Born Aug 26, 1746, he married Anna Maria Bell of Halstead, Essex, in 1773. She died in 1783 aged 33. He was a surgeon, was in the commission of the peace, and for over half a century a member of the Corporation and one of the Senior Aldermen of Saffron Waldren, Essex. He died on Sept 24, 1823 aged 77 years. 368 - MARTHA ANN - Born June 10, 1748. On Dec 6, 1768 at Wendens Ambo Church, Essex, she married Hope Wilkes, Esq., JP and Deputy Lieutenant, of Lofts Hall, Essex. He was the son of Nathaniel Wilkes and nephew of John Wilkes, a controversial politician and Lord Mayor of London in 1774. He died in 1803 aged 65, she died at Cambridge in 1813 aged 64, they were both buried in Lofts Church. 369 - MARY JOHNSON FISKE - Born at Wendens Ambo on May 1, 1750, she died on Aug 10, 1838, unmarried, at the age of 88. She resided at Myddleton House in Saffron Walden. 370 - REV. ROBERT - Born on July 5, 1751 at Wendens Ambo. He was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge and was elected a Fellow, he graduated BA in 1772, MA in 1775, and BD in 1783. On Feb 20, 1783 he married Elizabeth, daughter of John Fisher Esq., banker, of Cambridge (who was descended from Thomas, Lord Fairfax, Baron of Cameron). He was presented to the rectory of Fulbourn St. Vigors (Cambs.) on Nov 10, 1781, and to the vicarage of Fulbourn All Saints on May 26, 1790. He died on Sept 13, 1826 and was buried in Fulbourn Church where there is (or was, in 1901) a monument to his memory. Offspring of 321 341 - ISAAC - Baptized at Tostock on September 9, 1738, buried at Bardwell on March 21, 1763 aged 25. 342 - JOHN - Resided near Debenham, Suffolk. 343 - BRADLEY - Baptized at Tostock on July 7, 1746. 344 - JANE - Baptized at Tostock in 1744 [date not recorded]. 345 - MARY - Baptized at Tostock on November 7, 1740, proably died young. 346 - PRUDENCE - Baptised at Bardwell on December 14, 1751. 347 - CHARLES - Baptised at Tostock on November 4, 1736. He married Mary Shepherd at Stanton All Saints on July 5, 1761, she was buried there on July 13, 1826, aged 85. They are believed to have had nine children, although only one son survived to carry on the Fiske name. There were descendants of this family living in Stanton until the late 19th century. He was buried at Stanton All Saints on February 13, 1814 aged 79. 348 - MARTHA - Married Joseph Hart of Ixworth, Suffolk at Stanton St. John's on July 7, 1754, they had issue eight children. It is believed that Samuel (321) of Stanton and Martha had the following further six offspring, in addition to those listed in Fiske Family Papers (possibly missed out because of the spelling of the surname without the 'e' in the parish records?). Alternatively it may just be that there was another Samuel and Martha Fisk(e) living in the area at the same time. BRIDGET FISK(E) , baptized at Bardwell on July 22, 1754, buried there on January 25th, 1756 aged 14 months. MARTHA , born c.1765 although no baptism record has been found, she was the second daughter of Charles and Mary Fiske. She was buried at Stanton All Saints on July 3, 1855, aged 90. She never married but still had five children:

Offspring of 367 389 - CHARLES - Born 1775, he married Eliza Maria Church, of Debden, in 1812. Like his father he was an eminent surgeon. He built and resided in a house known as "Fairy Croft" at Saffron Walden for many years. It was sold with other property on May 9, 1849 under the Will of the late Charles Fiske Esq., and was described as a "Genteel freehold residence, most substantially built with the celebrated Gestingthorpe white brick, and having a conservatory or glazed verandah (the length of the West front), situate a short distance from the Town, and commanding delightful views of the Church and Audley End Park.." 390 - ROBERT - Born in 1777, he died unmarried in 1827, resided in London. 391 - JOHN - Born in 1778, he was an Attorney at New Inn and Saffron Walden, he died unmarried on Jan 28, 1844 aged 65 years. 392 - SAMUEL - Born in 1780, he was a surgeon, and Justice of the Peace of Saffron Walden. In April 1809 he married Lettice Roberts. eldest daughter of the late William Roberts Esq. of Cambridge. He was elected a councillor of the Borough on Dec 26, 1835, and on Dec 31 the same year was elected Alderman. On Nov 9, 1837 he was elected as Mayor, and again on Feb 1, 1839. He resided at a house called "Farmadine" in Saffron Walden, which he had built himself. He died on Nov 19, 1856 aged 76 years and his widow on Nov 30, 1868 aged 85 years. Both were buried at Elmdon churchyard, at the east end of the church. The spot is marked (or was, in 1901) by two inscribed flat stones, railed in. 393 - MARY ANN - Born in 1781, she married her cousin, the Rev. Robert Fiske BD of Elmdon. She was "a most able, energetic woman and wonderful needlewoman", died on July 2, 1857 aged 76. 394 - HENRY - Born 1783, died June 27, 1788 aged 5 years. Offspring of 370 401 - REV. ROBERT - Born Nov 23, 1783, educated at St. John's College, Cambridge and like his father was elected a Fellow there. He graduated BA in 1804, as MA in 1807 and BD in 1814, and was a distinguished student and tutor. He was instituted to the livings of Loft's-cum-Elmdon annex'd, and to Great Chishall in 1822. On Aug 27, 1816 he married his cousin Mary Ann Fiske (393, above). He died on Aug 21, 1839 and was buried at Elmdon Church where a monument was erected to his memory. 402 - THOMAS - Born March 2, 1785, he married in 1814 his cousin Harriet, second daughter of Thomas Fisher Esq., banker, of Cambridge (see also 370, above). He was a solicitor residing in Cambridge, died on June 27, 1829 and was buried there. 403 - JOHN - Born Jan 31, 1790 at Fulbourn, married Hannah Diver, youngest daughter of William Diver, Esq., of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk on March 6, 1817. They resided at Metfield Hall and Chediston, Suffolk, and farmed extensively in those parishes. He died on April 17, 1845 aged 55 years and was buried in the family vault in Chediston churchyard. His widow survived him 37 years, she died at Norwich in 1882 and was also buried at Chediston. 404 - HENRY - Born at Fulbourn Rectory on Sep 4, 1793. He established himself as a tea merchant at Taunton, Somerset and was very successful in that business for a number of years. On Jan 27, 1829 he married Ann Eliza Diver, eldest daughter of William Diver, Esq., of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. She died in 1845 and was buried at St. Mary's churchyard at Taunton. He died whilst on holiday at Dawlish, Devon, on Sept 15, 1868 and was buried in Taunton cemetery. He was the godfather of the compiler of Fiske Family Papers, Henry ffiske. 405 - WILLIAM - Baptised at Fulbourn on May 4, 1786. He died unmarried on Aug 3, 1807 in Great Scotland Yard, Charing Cross, London and was buried in vault No. 3 at St. Martin's in the Fields, near the remains of his mother. 406 - HENRY JOHN - Born Nov 6, 1788, died Dec 31 the same year. Offspring of 401 415 - REV. ROBERT - Born at Elmdon Vicarage on March 28, 1818, educated at Bury Grammar School and St. John's College, Cambridge, graduated BA in 1840 and MA in 1843. He succeeded his father in the livings of Wenden Lofts and Elmdon in 1843. On Oct 26, 1842 at Haverhill Church he married Emily Lettice, eldest daughter of the Rev. Robert Roberts, vicar of Haverhill for 54 years. In 1858 he was bequeathed Lofts Hall by John Wilkes Esq. and took by royal licence the surname and arms of Wilkes. He died on Nov 18, 1879 and was buried at Wenden Lofts, leaving a widow and eight children. In 1902 the remaining family members were residing at 14 Lansdowne Road, Wimbledon, Surrey. He was a solicitor, died in 1850. 417 - HARRIETT - Born Jan 25, 1816. 418 - EDMUND - Born Nov 5, 1818, died April 28, 1826. 419 - SARAH ELIZABETH - Born Aug 15, 1823, married in 1853 to Mr Charlier of Bayswater Terrace, they had two daughters, Rose and Emma. They went to America. Offspring of 403 420 - JOHN DIVER - Born Dec 27, 1817 at Metfield Hall, Suffolk, married Eliza Newman of Bottisham in Feb 1858. He farmed land at Kelsale until he retired and moved to Norwich. Died without issue on Jan 3, 1899. 421 - FRANCIS ROBERT - Born at Metfield Hall on May 12, 1819, educated at Halesworth. He moved to Norwich in Feb 1847, was elected churchwarden at St. Andrew's Church there in 1856, and continued in that office on and off for many years. He married Maria Robinson, daughter of George Robinson of Chediston at Chediston Church on Dec 12, 1850. In 1877 he was elected an Alderman and was placed on the Watch, City, and Market Committees, he was elected a member of the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital Board of Management in 1880. His wife died on March 20, 1900 and was buried in Norwich Cemetery, he was still extant in 1901. Their offspring were:
422 - FREDERICK - Born at Metfield Hall June 19, 1821, married Louisa Starlee Blowers, niece and adopted daughter of James Johnson, Gent., of Hill Farm, Halesworth at Halesworth Church on Sept 13, 1850. He was one of the largest farmers of north Suffolk, having lands in Huntingfield and Cookley as well as his large farm in Walpole. In addition, for many years he carried on a business as miller and corn merchant in Halesworth. He was also a manager and treasurer of the Walpole and Cookley School, was chairman of the Parish Council, and a churchwarden of Walpole Church for almost 50 years. He died on March 24, 1897 aged 75, and was buried at Walpole Churchyard. He resided at Hill House, Walpole. His offspring were:
423 - CHARLES - Born Sept 3, 1825, married Susan Sargent of Ipswich at St. Margaret's Church, Ipswich on Dec 6, 1854. She died on Aug 19, 1893 and was buried in Ipswich Cemetery. He was a chemist by profession, died without issue on Aug 15, 1866 and was buried with his father at Chediston. 424 - THOMAS - Born at Chediston on Feb 2, 1828, he married firstly Catherine Alice Blake of Taunton who died on Dec 6, 1858 and by whom he had 2 children, both died in infancy. He married secondly Elizabeth Sanders Stephens, daughter of Samuel Stephens Esq., of Shaldon, Devon, at Bishopshull Church on Jan 1, 1861. He died at Bournemouth on May 28, 1898 and was buried at Taunton. They resided at Taunton and "Nethway", Boscombe. Their offspring were:
425 - SOPHIA HANNAH - Born at Metfield Hall on April 29, 1823, married Frederic William Newman of Park Farm, Chippenham, Cambs. at Chediston Church on Dec 8, 1852. She died on Nov 14, 1899 aged 79. Their offspring were:
426 - ELLEN - Born at Chediston on Nov 16, 1829, married there on Nov 20, 1851 to Charles Turner of Stoke Ferry, Norfolk and "Dane Croft", Stowmarket. Their offspring were:
427 - WILLIAM - Born at Chediston on Nov 14, 1831, on Oct 3, 1865 he married Emily Bennett, daughter of the Rev. Thomas Dry, MA, Headmaster of the Grammar School, North Walsham. She died on Jan 22, 1881 and was buried at Tenby, S. Wales. William was for many years manager for the London and Provincial Bank Ltd., at their branches, successively, at North Walsham, East Dereham, Pembroke, Llanelly, and Chepstow. He died at Highgate on Dec 15, 1894 and was buried at Highgate Cemetery. Their offspring were:
428 - ANNE - Born Dec 27, 1833, died unmarried on Sept 29, 1901, buried in the family vault at Chediston. 429 - GEORGE - Born at Chediston on April 14, 1837, married Harriet Wainwright at Bramford Church on May 21, 1868. She was the daughter of Samuel Wainwright Esq. of Bramford Lodge, Suffolk, and sister of Alderman Samuel Wainwright, who was Sheriff of Norwich 1899-1900. He was a member of the East Suffolk County Council, a JP for Suffolk, Chairman of the Bosmere and Claydon District Council, Guardian of the Poor, and was for some years churchwarden of Bramford. He was a farmer, and a landowner at Bramford, Burstall, Flowton, and sole owner of Havergate Island. He resided at "Thornbush", Bramford, and was still extant in 1901. Their offspring were:
